I’m a little late sharing this, but I was absolutely thrilled to be included in this list of ten Kildare women making waves in the world for International Women’s Day. All the women on this list have worked so hard to get where they are and it is a real honour to be among them.
I moved to Ireland in 2001 with a couple of boxes full of books and clothes, and although it hasn’t always been easy being away from my family and friends back in the UK, I’ve always been very proud to call Ireland home. I often say that I’m sure I would never have written a word if I hadn’t moved here – there’s definitely something in the water! – so it really means a lot to be mentioned among such impressive women, and to be considered one of Kildare’s own. Thank you to Laura Coates from the Leinster Leader for writing the piece.
Continuing the theme of awesome women, I’m very excited to be participating in the 2017 Mountains to Sea Readers’ Day on Saturday 18th March. Join me, Carmel Harrington and Fionnuala Kearney as we talk to RTE’s Evelyn O’Rourke about our writing lives. More details at: http://www.mountainstosea.ie/preview/airfield/airfield-readers-day.html
