It has been the most amazing experience talking to radio shows across America over the past week. Across a total of seventeen interviews I’ve chatted with high energy morning show hosts, like the brilliant Bulldog at Ocean City 98 and Tron Simpson at KCMN in Colorado Springs, and have had more reflective conversations with wonderful hosts like Vicki St. Clair on KKNW in Seattle and Dr. Alvin Jones on WNEW in Washington DC. I even managed to get a song request in for my children at one stage! All the hosts were very interested in Titanic and THE GIRL WHO CAME HOME, and couldn’t have made me feel more welcome – so thank you to everyone for inviting me onto their shows.
Some of the interviews were recorded live and some were taped for later broadcasts. I’ve done them all hidden away in my attic/writing room with the sun shining through the window and the sound of the ice cream van and the boys playing in the garden doing their best to distract me. I even did three interviews on Good Friday when I had seventeen people in the house for a family lunch – yes, it was a little hectic (the prosecco after I’d finished the last interview definitely helped)! It has all been such a great experience – and there are plenty more interviews to come over the next few weeks in American, and I’m also doing interviews in Ireland, starting with KFM ArtyFacts show with Brenda Drumm this Wednesday, 23rd April.
I’ve posted a selection of podcasts below and will add more as they become available:
Conversations live with Vicki St. Clair (my segment starts at around 27 minutes in)
Literary New England with Cindy Wolfe Boynton
The Rude Awakening with Bulldog (my segment is at the start of the show, recorded on 14th April)
The Big Show with Michael Shiels
